The couple began their morning together with a serene breakfast at The Umstead. “Justin and I woke up together and ordered room service at The Umstead, where we were able to enjoy breakfast on our private garden patio and share our vows,” Lizet shared. “It was such a special moment we could share just the two of us before the craziness of getting ready. It allowed us to slow down and take everything in.” This quiet start set the tone for a day filled with meaningful, intentional moments.
Preparation was key to bringing their vision to life. Lizet explained, “I may have overly prepared by having a PowerPoint presentation with absolutely everything planned out and ready to distribute to my vendors, but it certainly helped! Pinterest quickly became my best friend. Having visuals and examples definitely helped when trying to communicate my vision with my vendors.”
The couple’s reception was a dream of candlelight, music, and energy. As both Justin and Lizet are Hispanic, music played a central role in their celebration. They partnered with local musicians and DJs, including DJ Ones, to bring their favorite Spanish hits to life. During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed live performances from a conga and saxophone player, setting the perfect energetic mood. Later in the evening, the couple surprised everyone with La Hora Loca (“The Crazy Hour”), where the conga and sax players returned, accompanied by colorful masks, feathered headpieces, whistles, bubble guns, and confetti cannons, an unforgettable highlight that brought everyone to the dance floor.
