Vows that Wow: October Edition
When Kayla and Kat began planning their Raleigh wedding, every choice was made with real purpose, right down to selecting the calendar date. After a friendly debate over when to say “I do,” the couple turned to an astrologer to analyze their charts. The result? A perfectly aligned May 31st wedding, falling under a blue full moon in Sagittarius and right on the eve of Pride Month.
Hosted at The Greenhouse at Arrow Farms, the venue provided an open, light-filled backdrop for every single moment of their day.
Honoring Culture & Connection
Heritage played a meaningful role in the day’s traditions. As two Black women, it was deeply important to Kayla and Kat to incorporate the tradition of jumping the broom into their ceremony. Close friends surprised them with a bespoke, handmade broom from a queer Black-owned business, Blue Cypress Botanicals, which Lavish Leaf beautifully adorned with fresh blooms.
The ceremony offered a perfect balance of deep sentiment and pure joy. A close friend served as their officiant, delivering a Maya Angelou reading in a lighthearted, affectionate impersonation that gave the couple, and their guests, a welcome moment of laughter amidst the emotion.
High Energy & Intentionally Designed Details
While the ceremony held plenty of sweet, quiet moments, the reception brought serious energy. To elevate the space, Curated Events Raleigh brought in a collection of rentals that grounded the design in effortless style. To reveal their second-look outfits, changing from the two gorgeous gowns from Simply Blush Bridal, Kayla and Kat launched into a completely unscripted, impromptu lip-sync performance to Dreamgirls. The surprise moment caught everyone off guard in the best way possible, instantly setting the tone for an incredible night of dancing and celebrating.
