Wed Society Cares 2025 brought our community together for a hands-on volunteer day at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, and we had a blast making a difference!
Members of Wed Society Greater Raleigh rolled up their sleeves to help in the garden: moving plant beds, digging out soil, and testing the ground to make room for new, fresh food to grow. Every scoop of dirt and every planter moved was a step toward helping the Food Bank provide nutritious meals for families who need it most.
Why It Matters
The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, founded in 1980, works tirelessly to ensure no one goes hungry across a 34‑county region near the Triangle. With more than 700 partner agencies, including food pantries, shelters, meal sites, and distribution centers, the Food Bank distributes millions of meals every year to individuals and families in need. In the fiscal year 2021–2022 alone, the Food Bank distributed over 97 million pounds of food, nearly 38 million pounds of which were fresh produce, across its service area.
Volunteers like our Wed Society members are essential. By helping prepare the garden for new growth, we’re laying the foundation for future fresh produce that could soon help feed families facing hunger across the region.
Thank You to Our Volunteers
A huge shout-out to everyone who joined us. Your energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to get your hands dirty made a real impact. Gardening isn’t just about plants; it’s about growing hope, community, and care.
We’re proud of what we accomplished together and even prouder of the difference we’re helping make, one volunteer at a time!
